Porcelain hardneck garlic is known for being the most flavorful and intense garlic type. Porcelain is more cold hardy and produces larger cloves. (Typically, 3-10 per bulb).  The bulbs have a thick white, often with faint purple stripes, flakey bulb paper wrappings and rich purple to brown clove casings.  it is much easier to peel and can be stored longer than most other hardnecks.  it can be a very user-friendly garlic to grow!

VS

Purple Stripe hardneck garlic is known for its vibrant and stunning purple stripes on the bulb wrappings and more pointed clove tips.  The taste in raw form tends to be spicier, but in raw form tends to be richer and sweeter.  Purple stripe garlic tends to grow well in most climates and produces 8-12 cloves per bulb with medium storage live.  Ther are marbled and glazed types of Purple Stripe hardnecks

We have noticed that porcelain hardneck garlic hold their clove density longer through the season. Whereas purple strip loses their clove density faster.  We typically recommend porcelain varieties for first time hardneck garlic planters.  The porcelain varieties we grow are:
