1.  Do not store garlic in a fridge.

2.  Do not put garlic in any type of enclosed container.

3.  Keep your garlic bulbs/cloves on the counter or in a hanging basket, away from direct sunlight, moisture and heat.

4.  For longest life keep the bulb as intact as possible.  A full bulb will have the longest shelf life.
